Our school district is committed to providing a safe and inclusive educational environment for all students, regardless of their immigration status. In accordance with federal law and California legislation, we uphold the following principles:
Equal Access to Education: Every child has the right to a free public education, as established by the landmark Supreme Court decision Plyler v. Doe in 1982. We do not discriminate based on immigration status and ensure all students can fully participate in school activities.
Campus Safety: Our schools prioritize student safety by carefully managing access to school grounds. Immigration enforcement officers are generally not permitted on campus without proper legal documentation. Any official requests are processed through our Office of Student Services to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Student Privacy Protection: We safeguard student information and do not collect or share data related to immigration status. Our district policies, including Board Policy 5125(a), strictly prohibit the disclosure of personal information for immigration enforcement purposes without proper legal authorization.
These guidelines reflect our commitment to providing a quality education for all students in a secure and supportive environment.
Student Support Services:
We recognize that immigration concerns may impact our students' well-being. Our counselors and support staff are available to provide a safe, confidential space for students to discuss their feelings and experiences, with parental consent.
While we cannot offer legal advice, we are committed to supporting our students' emotional needs and can direct families to appropriate community resources if needed.
