District Advisory Committee (DAC) and District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC)

The District Advisory Council (DAC) and District English Learner Advisory Council (DELAC) are two essential parent committees that meet multiple times a year to advise, engage, and collaborate with District personnel to support districtwide initiatives.  Both committees meet together in a communications forum to receive current information regarding programs, new initiatives, and other current issues of importance to the education of all students.  It is intended that the information discussed, and reports provided, are then shared back at each school site at the respective School Site Council (SSC) meetings.

District Advisory Committee (DAC)

The purpose of the District Advisory Committee (DAC) is to serve in an advisory capacity to the school district and to serve as a communication link between the schools and communities which constitute the school district.  DAC delegates have the opportunity to:
  • Promote school activities
  • React to new school programs and activities
  • Encourage and promote District unity through support of districtwide programs and activities, and
  • Serve as a liaison between district and school sites with regards to student concerns, parent concerns, community concerns, administrative concerns, and local school concerns

District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC)

The purpose of the DELAC is to advise the district's local governing board on programs and services for English Learners. Each California public school district, grades K through 12 with 51% or more English learners must form a District-level English Learner Advisory Committee. DELAC delegates have the opportunity to:
  • Support implementation of EL Master Plan
  • Advise the principal and staff on programs and services for English learners
  • Support the development of the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA)
  • Promote school activities
