Federal and State Programs
The Department of School Support and Safety supports the implementation and monitoring of Federal and State programs. On December 10, 2015, President Obama signed the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), reauthorizing the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and replacing the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), the 2001 reauthorization of ESEA. Funding sources protected include:
- Title I
- Title II
- Title III
- Title IV
These programs are designed to improve academic outcomes for all students by strengthening instruction, promoting a culture of high expectations, engaging and empowering families, ensuring safe and healthy learning conditions, and providing a broad range of student supports.
