Superintendent's Message

Dear Westminster School District Community,
The events of May 21 through May 26 tested our district in ways none of us anticipated. When a hazardous chemical incident in Garden Grove triggered mandatory evacuation orders for thousands of Orange County residents, our team acted swiftly to evacuate eight campuses, coordinate with emergency officials, and keep our families informed and supported throughout five demanding days. I am proud to share that every student was safely evacuated, every campus has been confirmed safe, and all schools are fully open.
None of this would have been possible without the extraordinary dedication of our staff — principals, teachers, counselors, support staff, and district leadership — who showed up every single day with professionalism and heart. Most importantly, thank you to our families. Your patience, trust, and grace throughout this situation meant everything to us.
As we turn the page on this experience and head into our final two weeks of the school year, I want our community to know that we are here for you and we are honored to finish this year in service to your children.
With gratitude,
Gunn Marie Hansen, Ph.D., Superintendent
Westminster School District
