All visitors must check in at the school office and are screened through the Raptor Visitor Management System, which runs names against a national sexual predator database. No visitor may access a campus without completing this process.

WSD schools practice emergency procedures — including lockdowns, shelter-in-place, and evacuation drills — on a regular basis throughout the year. Each campus has a Crisis Response Plan that outlines specific procedures for a range of emergency scenarios. Parents are notified following drills via the district’s automated communication system.

Concerns can be reported anonymously through the WeTip 2.0 hotline at wetip.com. You can also contact your school’s main office directly or reach out to a School Resource Officer. All reports are taken seriously and investigated promptly.

The School Safety Task Force includes parents, teachers, staff, administrators, and law enforcement. Families interested in participating should contact the district office. Meeting agendas and notes are published on the Safety Task Force meetings page.

The Westminster School District is committed to promoting the health, safety, and well-being of every student. We recognize that students are most successful when their social, emotional, and mental health needs are supported in addition to their academic growth. Ensuring the well-being of all students remains a top priority throughout our district. To support student wellness, WSD provides a continuum of services designed to promote positive mental health and assist with suicide prevention. These services include school-based counseling and crisis intervention, referrals to community mental health resources, and ongoing prevention and awareness training for students and staff.

Each school site has trained professional student support teams that work collaboratively with parents to ensure that social and emotional barriers to student learning are identified and addressed. If your child is experiencing emotional distress or needs support, please contact your school's counselor, psychologist, or site administrator for assistance.

Suicidal Thinking and Threats

The Westminster School District is committed to maintaining safe, supportive, and welcoming learning environments for all students and staff. Student safety is a shared responsibility, and the District is dedicated to identifying and responding to potential safety concerns in a timely, thoughtful, and supportive manner.

WSD utilizes the Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines (CSTAG), an evidence-based threat assessment model developed to help schools distinguish between transient threats and those that may pose a substantive risk of violence. This approach emphasizes prevention, early intervention, and problem-solving while ensuring that students receive appropriate supports and services.

Each school site has a trained multidisciplinary Threat Assessment Team that has received training in the CSTAG process. Teams work collaboratively with students, families, school staff, and community partners to assess reported threats, develop intervention and safety plans when appropriate, and connect students with behavioral, mental health, and educational supports. The goal of the threat assessment process is to resolve concerns, address underlying needs, and maintain a safe learning environment.

If you become aware of a student who has made concerning statements, exhibited threatening behavior, or may pose a risk to themselves or others, please report your concerns immediately to your school's principal or another school administrator. Early reporting allows the District to respond promptly and provide appropriate support and intervention. Contact Us
