What Is Transitional Kindergarten?
Transitional Kindergarten is intended for students who turn five between September 2 and December 2, 2020. It is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program designed to prime young kindergartners for school success. Children with birthdays between September 2 and December 2 are only eligible to attend Transitional Kindergarten. To learn more about our program, we encourage you to visit our classrooms at Back-To-School Night, Open House, or Kindergarten Information Night on Wednesday, January 29, at 6:30 p.m., at all WSD elementary schools. Kindergarten registration begins Wednesday, February 5, 2020. Please note: Transitional Kindergarten registration will begin with an online application. Please check the district's homepage in January for more information.
Transitional Kindergarten gives young learners the gift of time. It provides children with a stimulating environment which fosters physical, social-emotional and intellectual development. It provides students with a strong educational foundation. This class is taught by a credentialed teacher, implementing the kindergarten curriculum with a developmental focus.
