Why Orange County Kindergartners are Learning Vietnamese and English

Forty kindergarteners walking into their first day of school Wednesday will make California history. The youngsters at DeMille Elementary School in the Westminster School District will be part of the state’s first Vietnamese/English language-immersion program in a public school.

The Association of the Vietnamese Language & Culture Schools of So Cal hosted a Teacher Training Institute recently. Board Member Jamison Power and Asst. Superintendent Dr. Cyndi Paik participated in the Opening Ceremony and teacher Huong Dang completed the training.
