WSD’s i4 Blended Learning Initiative focuses on inspiring, innovating, implementing, and impacting (i4) student learning. Blended learning combines technology with traditional classroom resources and the initiative was developed to help provide our students with the 21st century skills necessary to be college and career ready.
The objective of the i4 Blended Learning Initiative is to inspire teachers to innovate in their classrooms by implementing effective strategies, which will impact student learning. Through the i4 Blended Learning Initiative, our students have been empowered to discover, connect, and learn in personalized ways. Students are provided opportunities to take ownership of their own learning. The i4 teachers facilitate time for students to work collaboratively and independently, providing college and career readiness skills through reflective practices, critical thinking skills, and goal setting. With Chromebooks for every student and other online tools, teachers engage students in dynamic learning across a range of modalities. Students are no longer limited to learning by solely listening to a lecture or reading a book. Students learn in many different ways, and teachers now have the resources to accommodate many different types of learners.

The initiative focuses on meeting the needs of teachers and students in the areas of balanced instruction, meaningful feedback, and classroom environment. It has truly transformed teaching and learning in our district,” said Dr. Marian Kim Phelps, WSD Superintendent.
